This is a faithful adaptation that plainly lays out the victims' stories and lets the audience see for themselves how differently they were treated, down to every question.

Series such as... Unbelievable do something else too: They impose justice on a world that is anything but fair.

As thematically fascinating as Unbelievable can be, it's also often dramatically plodding, if not grueling.

It's a tough watch, but it's a rewarding one, not just because it has one of the best ensembles of the year but because of what it says about hope and empathy.

Unbelievable isn't just a gripping story, it's an incredibly compelling argument for why we need to take a frank look at the way victims of sexual assault are treated and how seriously we take them.

Kaitlyn Dever's heartbreaking performance as the vilified Marie will make you desperate for vindication.

This story about the pursuit of a serial rapist in California could have been lurid or tacky, but instead it's commendably thoughtful and spends almost all its time on the victims and their struggle to be believed.

Oct 7, 2019 | Full Review…

On Unbelievable, we really see a difference between what happens to survivors who are believed and the ones who are written off from the start.

Further, while the writing is definitely elevated by the quality of the cast, the script is lean and moves along at a snappy pace, striking a perfect balance between exhilarating tension and deep despair.

Unbelievable is the best, most human, most complex police procedural I've seen in a long, long time.

Toni Collette and Merritt Wever are an instantly likable female empowered duo that I want more of.

Every man and woman must watch this tv show.

A friend turned me onto this incredible mini-series... I'm returning the favor for other friends. Watch. I would love to see the Collette and Weaver team up for another investigation. I know this season was based on a true story, but the actresses were so good, playing off one another, one wants to see them again. I also appreciated that the difficult topics were handled without undue sensation, realistically. Kaitlyn Dever blew me away as the victim.

Amazing. Disturbing. Unbelievable. Truly. Watched the series twice - second time with my wife. The coupling up of Toni Collette and Merritt Wever was an excellent choice. And as for Kaitlyn Dever - to be able to portray such a difficult role - was amazing. Found it very upsetting but gripping and wanting the right level of justice to be delivered to all the people that wronged the young girl.

This was well written and really well acted with good pacing and a real feel of frustration from the detectives working on the case. Hope they do another season

Not the best job of placing time-frames and locations between scenes. Other than that, really loved it!

I started watching because I adore Merritt Weaver and Toni Collette and then I ended up doing that thing I rarely ever do. I stayed up until 5:30 a.m. binge watching the series in one night. Every actor involved was magnificent. A gem indeed!
