I can't yet tell you if Marianne turns out to be classy trick or a clever treat. But I'm looking forward to finding out, from my safe, dry spot behind the sofa.

With nods to Stephen King, director Samuel Bodin creates a refreshing take on the writer going back home to deal with her demons.

The series intelligently uses the perimeter of the town, animated with forests and lakes, old houses, abandoned laboratories. [Full Review in Spanish]

Marianne is a series that embodies classic horror while simultaneously adding its own unique style. It's terrifying- and somehow manages to be loads of fun.

Sep 24, 2019 | Rating: A | Full Review…

Marianne remains terrifying until its climactic, exorcism-filled end. But when I remember the show, I'll remember those eyes.

Marianne is nightmares personified.

Sep 19, 2019 | Full Review…

The coastal setting, the author as protagonist and literary nightmares brought to life reveal Marianne was made firmly under the influence of Stephen King, but that's fine with us. At least it's not set in the '80s.

The series eschews a lot of genre tropes and tricksiness, making it all the more involving.

Marianne will likely satisfyingly scratch your itch for scary stuff.

Absolutely terrifying, masterfully written. Fingers crossed for season 2!

It started out great and there are a few good moments throughout but as it went on it got more nonsensical. The comedy sprinkled throughout was funny but unfortunately took away from the creepiness. Lots of hommage to horror movies (even anime) which was interesting but it got to the point where it was distracting. It was way overhyped on social media and it feels disappointing that it did not deliver to the degree that was advertised.

I liked the show and it was definitely scary, but it was WAY too long. I would have given it 5 stars if it were a movie. I found the lead actress a bit annoying but the actress who played the younger version of her was really good. And her mom was very good too.

Can't say enough good things about Marianne. Absolutely terrifying supernatural horror that doesn't falter for a single episode. Every single one had me squirming. And talk about a scary villain; Marianne is just about as evil and ruthless as they get. If you like occult/supernatural horror, this is an absolute must see. Expertly done

A excellent horror tv show in half way between conjuring, It, drag me to hell and some famous horror movies. As a frenchy, I can say that the french characters performance is really amazing and hope that this performance could be nicely translated. I really hope that this show would be a succes and Netflix would order another season (And I don't say all of that just because I'm french).
