Producer Greg Berlanti is to comic book superheroes what Donald Trump is to tweeting. They just can't stop themselves.

The best part of the new series is that unfussy, effortless way of getting Kate's sexual orientation out of the way, and also Kate herself.

The whole show is very, very interested in being diverse, and it's so obvious it's cringe-worthy.

The CW Arrowverse show twists the classic superhero tropes to make for a deliciously promising tale of a young woman struggling to find her path. It's relatable until she just ultimately chooses vigilantism instead of community college.

The show still has much to prove, and could get much better or worse from here, but as far as pilots go, this is a decent beginning.

With Arrow fast approaching its end, Batwoman can easily pick up its grimdark mantle within the Arrowverse and run with it.

A pretty solid introduction...Batwoman quickly proves that it's worth your time.

Batwoman is ultimately painful to watch and a struggle to get through, lacking finesse, emotional depth, and a sense of direction.

This premiere ticks all the boxes of a good intro episode with clear "Who"s, "What"s, and "Why"s laid out for even the most casual viewer while setting up some good long-arc momentum.

Unfortunately, a little dramatic coaching might have been helpful as well, because she delivers every line with the same monotonous flatness. Moody is one thing, but numb isn't a particularly engaging vibe.

A great set-up for what's to come as we watch Kate Kane's (Ruby Rose) journey unfold.

It sure takes a while to drop the conventions... and to go truly "Dark Knight."

So CW. Everyone is way too attractive it hurts. The dialog is a joke, the characters are one dimensional and every trope in the book has been used. Simply terrible.

The premiere doesn't do a good job of establishing a strong plot and instead focuses instead, on a character that is seemingly perfect and no goals or motivation to work towards

Loved the comics but not the series.

I think they kinda rushed the back story and rushed to becoming batwoman. But I can see potential

Was it the pile of crap they made it out to be in the previews? No. Is it worth watching , no. Bad writing, bad acting, bad story, bad casting. Don't waste your time with this. Watching paint dry is slightly more entertaining.

it shouldn't be graded on a curve simply bc it's the pilot episode. the production is not bad. the acting by Ruby Rose, in my opinion is pretty stale. and, if they want to make Batwoman a lesbian, fine, it's 2019, cool; even though when I was little I never cared who wanted to sleep with who; why it's suddenly important; whatever.. but, nothing reflects any source material. if anything, her attitude and the snarky lines they gave her would more align with Catwoman than Batwoman. they literally just made up a character slapped the Batman/woman label on it. and, the "training" that makes her so special, what was it? the beginning scene was an absolute joke. I don't dislike Ruby Rose, but I think her acting range is certainly limited. I have seen cheesier productions. ultimately, I think what failed the first show for me was the poor writing; too many times which is too many for a single episode, I asked myself, why didn't she just do this? or, why would that not go down differently? And, nothing grabs your attention; it feels rushed. Why must you care about her being kidnapped, here, let's now do a quick flashback, now we're invested, right? watching the pilot shouldn't feel like a chore. Usually, the quality of writing doesn't improve considerably; I may watch 1 more episode; or, try.
